Set in the first row to the sea on the island of Brač, this three-storey villa stands just 5 metres from the clear Adriatic in the calm Ruzmarin Bay, with its own sea dock and a berth for a boat of up to 10 metres. A pebble beach lies 200 metres away, and the small, picturesque villages of Sumartin and Selca are around 500 metres from the property. Restaurants are about 1 km away, a café bar 1.2 km, and the ferry, shops, pharmacy and marina around 3 km, while the airport is 12 km distant.
Sumartin is the smallest and youngest settlement on the far eastern side of Brač, a place that keeps its peaceful, idyllic character even at the height of summer. Its life has long been shaped by ships, and it has more vessels per inhabitant than any other place on the island. Lučica, one of the last working shipyards on the Adriatic, is well worth a visit, as is the Franciscan monastery, whose archive holds paintings by Venetian masters, goldsmiths' work, a wealth of books, several incunabula and a chronicle tracing the monastery's life from its beginnings. Quiet, secluded bays with sandy and pebble beaches surround the village, among them Rasotica, Zukovik, Radovnja, Studena, Zvirje and Špilica. Neighbouring Selca is known for its traditional food, including lamb, cheese, wine and honey, served in restaurants that favour local produce. Those seeking activity can try surfing, diving or paragliding, cycle across the island, hike to Vidova Gora, or take speedboat trips between Brač, Hvar, Korčula and Vis to discover sights such as the Blue Cave, and lovers of nightlife can head to Bol or Supetar.
Renovated in 2017 and finished to an exacting standard with quality designer details, the villa offers more than 500 m² of living space on a 550 m² plot and welcomes up to 8 guests in 4 en suite bedrooms, with 5 bathrooms and a separate toilet in total. Arriving from the private dock, guests are met first by the heated infinity pool, which overflows towards the bay. Sun loungers, umbrellas, an outdoor shower and seating furnish the pool area, with pool towels provided and greenery softening the courtyard. Beside the pool, a summer kitchen with a barbecue sits alongside a dining table shaded by a pergola, making long meals outdoors an easy pleasure.
The ground floor opens directly onto the pool courtyard. Here two elegant bedrooms, each with a large double bed and an en suite bathroom with a shower, are separated from the pool area by glass walls, so mornings begin with sunlight on the sea. The same level is given over to fitness and relaxation, with a private gym equipped for a full workout, a separate sauna and a bathroom with a shower.
A staircase rises to the first floor, where a terrace furnished with seating looks out over the bay and the open sea. Behind a glass wall lies the bright, spacious living area with a sofa, armchairs, a satellite LCD TV and a home cinema set-up, followed by a dining area with a table for 8 and a curated wine collection. The modern open kitchen with an island is fully equipped with a stove, oven, range hood, refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, espresso coffee machine, ice maker, wine cooler, juicer, blender, mixer, toaster and kettle, together with all the utensils, cutlery, dishes, glasses and tea towels needed.
From the living and dining space, internal stairs lead up to a light-filled, open gallery that divides the second floor into two wings. Each holds a modern bedroom with a large double bed, an en suite bathroom and a private terrace with seating and a view of the sea.
The villa is fully air-conditioned and has Wi-Fi throughout, satellite TV in all bedrooms and in the gym, a Sonos sound system linked to indoor and outdoor speakers, a 3D TV with internet access, a DVD player and library, an Xbox, board games and a selection of books. Hairdryers are provided in the bedrooms, alongside a safe, washing machines and dryers. A home office allows work to continue when needed, and there are 2 parking spaces on the property. For time on the water and beyond, guests can use two kayaks (subject to availability), four bicycles, snorkelling equipment for adults and children, eight yoga mats and beach towels. A baby cot and high chair are available, and pets are welcome with prior notice.
The stay includes a villa manager, daily maintenance of the villa and property for 2 to 3 hours a day, daily pool maintenance, a change of towels and bed linen twice a week, a luxurious welcome package, concierge assistance with reservations and planning free time, and both pre-arrival and daily grocery stocking, with guests paying only the store invoice. Breakfast service, a private chef with a waiter, in-villa massage, boat and car hire, guides, excursions, and private taxi or speedboat transfers can be arranged on request at a surcharge, and the villa can host weddings for up to 20 guests.
