Just 8 metres from the sea, this villa sits in the calm, romantic bay of Gršćica on the island of Korčula in Dalmatia. It lies 350 metres from the small settlement of Gršćica, 7 kilometres from the town of Blato, 14 kilometres from Vela Luka and around 30 minutes by car from Korčula town. Renovated in 2019, the house offers 300 square metres of living space on a 1,000 square metre plot, arranged over four levels, with room for 12 guests in six en-suite bedrooms. It is a retreat shaped around privacy, clear water and an unhurried pace, well suited to extended families or groups of friends.
Korčula is known for its untouched nature, crystal-clear sea and deep historical heritage, and is celebrated as the home of the merchant traveller, explorer and imperial emissary Marco Polo. Its people have guarded their traditions for centuries: in nearby Blato the Kumpanije sword dance has been performed for hundreds of years, while the Moreška sword dance, once seen across the Mediterranean, is still proudly staged on the island, and visitors often have the chance to watch it live. Closer to home, a café bar and restaurants are 350 metres away, the marina is 500 metres away, the bus station is 1 kilometre away and shops are 2 kilometres away. A bank, ATM, pharmacy, dentist and tennis court are 7 kilometres away, the ferry and a petrol station are 14 kilometres away, and the airport is 170 kilometres away.
Directly in front of the villa is a secluded beach with limited access, laid out in cascading stone plateaus and surrounded by pine trees that cast generous shade through the day. Deck chairs, beach towels and a kayak are provided, and there is a sea mooring for a boat of up to 10 metres. It is a quiet place to swim, read and simply take in the stillness of the bay. From the beach, stairs climb to the first floor and its principal terrace, which is divided into two areas. The first holds the heated outdoor pool, measuring 5 by 3 metres, which can be heated once temperatures fall below 23ºC, together with a sun deck, deck chairs, sunshades and an outdoor shower. The second area is covered and furnished with a dining table, chairs and lounge seating, while a run of stone arches frames views across the bay and the open sea. An outdoor jacuzzi offers a place to unwind at any hour, and the grounds also include a summer gazebo, greenery in the courtyard and further dining and lounge sets.
Entering the first floor, a spacious open living area brings together a fully equipped kitchen with a bar, a dining room and a living room with a fireplace, leather sofa and LCD TV. A glass door opens straight onto the pool terrace, drawing the indoors and outdoors together. This level also holds three modern bedrooms, each with a queen bed, a private bathroom and a TV, two of them opening directly onto the terrace, as well as a guest toilet.
Exterior stairs lead up to the second floor, where an outdoor barbecue beside the entrance invites long evenings of traditional Dalmatian cooking. Inside are three further modern bedrooms, each with a queen bed, its own bathroom and a TV. A hallway with a second guest toilet opens into another generous living area, where a living room with a leather sofa and TV flows into a dining room and a second fully equipped kitchen with a bar. Large glass doors fill the space with sunlight, and the adjoining terrace, set with a dining table, is made for sea-view dinners and a glass of Dalmatian wine on warm summer nights. Of the six en-suite bathrooms, two have a bathtub and four have a shower.
Behind the residential part of the villa lies an indoor wellness and entertainment area with a second jacuzzi, a sauna and a billiard table, extending the pleasures of the house beyond the height of summer. The ground floor is reserved for the housekeepers who look after the villa and are qualified to give first-aid assistance if needed.
The villa is fully air-conditioned, with individual units in every bedroom and living room, and offers satellite LCD TV and Wi-Fi. Each of the two kitchens is equipped with a stove, oven, range hood, microwave, refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, kettle, toaster, blender, mixer and juicer, along with espresso, filter and Dolce Gusto coffee machines, kitchen utensils, cutlery and tea towels. There are two washing machines, two irons with ironing boards, two safes, a vacuum cleaner and a hairdryer in each bathroom, while pool towels are supplied. A baby cot and high chair are available, and the villa has its own private parking.
