Villas in Antigua
Antigua offers calm west-coast beaches, a sailing harbour in the south and a car-free private island offshore. Most of our villas are at Tamarind Hills, with ocean views, infinity pools and sunset terraces.
Why Choose Antigua for a Luxury Villa Holiday?
On the west coast, the villas of Tamarind Hills sit above Ffryes Beach and look across the water to Montserrat at sunset. It is where most of our homes are concentrated. Galley Bay Heights, further north, is a quieter hillside facing the same sunsets, while English Harbour on the south coast is the island's sailing centre. On the east side, Nonsuch Bay Resort sits on a sheltered lagoon and Jumbo Bay Island is a car-free private island off the northeast shore. The island stays warm all year and the trade winds keep it comfortable; the seasons themselves are covered in Best Time to Visit.
What a villa gives you here is room to live outdoors. Most homes are built around ocean views, an infinity pool and a terrace for sunset, and many sit in resort communities where a gym, yoga and a beach club are close at hand. Some are right on the sand. Bedroom numbers run from two to eleven, so couples and multi-generational groups can each find the right scale, with a concierge team, housekeeping and a private chef to lighten the planning.
Days here tend to be spent on the water: sailing, snorkelling, paddleboarding or deep-sea fishing, followed by grilled lobster or local snapper at dinner. If it is your first stay, we would start with Tamarind Hills for the widest choice of homes, and use the area-by-traveller guide below to see whether another coast suits your group better.

Best Time to Visit Antigua
Temperature units
December to April is the best time to visit Antigua: it is the driest stretch of the year, the trade winds keep the heat comfortable and the sailing and festival calendar is in full swing. The trade-off is crowds and booking pressure, above all over Christmas and New Year and during Sailing Week. May to August is hotter and much quieter, while September to November is the wettest part of the year and sits within the Atlantic hurricane season, which runs from June to November. Temperatures barely shift through the year, so the real choice is between rain, wind and what is happening on the water.
Historical averages for this area over the past 10 years: typical high and low temperatures, total monthly rainfall and peak wind speed. Conditions vary from year to year.
Winter (December-February)
Dry, bright and breezy, with highs typically around 27°C to 28°C and the least rain of the year. This is Antigua at its busiest. Festive traditions mean church services, Christmas lunch by the sea and New Year's Eve in English Harbour, where superyachts stay on after the Antigua Charter Yacht Show in early December and fireworks go off over Nelson's Dockyard. Humpback whales start passing offshore in January, and February brings the RORC Caribbean 600 yacht race. Flights and villas for Christmas and New Year sell out first, so book well ahead. We would base you at Tamarind Hills or Galley Bay Heights for quiet and sunsets, or in English Harbour for the festivities.
Spring (March-April)
The hills behind Jolly Harbour and along Fig Tree Drive are dry and golden, and highs typically sit around 28°C to 29°C. Easter is busy, but beaches get noticeably quieter afterwards. April is sailing month: the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta and Antigua Sailing Week, in late April, fill English Harbour and Falmouth with crews, and Sunday evenings at Shirley Heights are at their liveliest. Humpback whales may still pass offshore in March and early April. Couples and families wanting dry weather with more space suit Tamarind Hills; sailing enthusiasts belong in English Harbour.
Early summer (May-August)
Hotter, with highs of around 29°C to 31°C and occasional heavy showers that usually pass quickly. The trade winds ease, the Caribbean coast tends to be calm and clear, and snorkelling, paddleboarding and kayaking at Ffryes and Darkwood beaches are at their best. It is not peak season, so it often suits families in the school holidays. With hurricane season under way, favour flexible cancellation terms. Antigua Carnival runs from late July to the first Tuesday in August, filling St John's with calypso, soca and the J'ouvert street parade; large villas are limited, so book Carnival and August early.
Wet season (September-November)
Rainfall typically averages over 100mm a month, and September and October are the peak of the hurricane season, so keep an eye on forecasts. Some hotels and restaurants close for part of this period. In return you get the warmest sea of the year and very quiet beaches. Hawksbill turtle hatchlings are still emerging on Jumbo Bay Island, and cooler mornings suit walks to Shirley Heights or Rendezvous Bay. Independence Day on 1 November brings parades, and by late November Nonsuch Bay and English Harbour are preparing for the new season.

Concierge Travel Guide to Antigua
Antigua covers roughly 280 square kilometres, and few places are more than about 45 minutes' drive apart, so a villa on one coast leaves the rest within easy reach. Most visitors arrive at V.C. Bird International Airport (ANU) near St John's, in the northeast, with direct scheduled flights from hubs including London, New York, Miami, Charlotte and Toronto and easy connections from across Europe, North America, the Middle East and South America. Transfers are short: Tamarind Hills and the west coast are usually 30 to 40 minutes by car, English Harbour about 40 minutes, and Jumbo Bay Island is a short boat ride from a dock near the airport.
Where to Eat
Sheer Rocks, built into the cliffs at Ffryes Point a short drive from Tamarind Hills, is a favourite for long lunches and sunset dinners, and the Tamarind Hills beach club has Wild Tamarind and the Hummingbird Bar. In English Harbour, Catherine's Café serves French-leaning dishes at Pigeon Point. Jolly Harbour has more restaurants close by. Most of the cooking comes from the sea, with grilled lobster and local snapper, alongside fungee and pepperpot (the national dish), ducana with saltfish and the small, sweet Antigua black pineapple. English Harbour Rum is made on the island, Wadadli beer is on most menus, and the Sunday barbecue with a steel band at Shirley Heights Lookout is the island's best-known evening out.
Beaches
Antigua is often said to have 365 beaches. Ffryes, Darkwood and Valley Church lie below Tamarind Hills on the calm Caribbean coast, and the beach club on Ffryes has loungers, day beds and paddleboards. Galley Bay Heights looks over the quiet curve of Galley Bay, close to Deep Bay and Fort James. Pigeon Point, near English Harbour, is a calm local favourite for swimming. On the Atlantic side, Half Moon Bay is a wide, open crescent with more surf, and the reef-sheltered water at Nonsuch Bay Resort suits sailing and kitesurfing. Rendezvous Bay on the south coast is reached by boat or a rough track, which keeps it quiet. For the sand on your doorstep, look at villas with waterfront outlooks.
Things to Do
The water sets the pace: sailing, paddleboarding, snorkelling, deep-sea fishing and, in the south, a morning out from English Harbour. Barbuda is the obvious day trip, about 90 minutes by ferry or a short flight from the airport, for its long, pink-tinged beaches and the frigate bird colony in Codrington Lagoon. Montserrat, visible from the west coast, rewards a visit for its volcanic landscapes. For a longer Caribbean itinerary, short regional flights or private charters connect Antigua with St Barts, St Kitts, Nevis and Anguilla.
With Children
Family days are built around the sea and the countryside. At Stingray City off the east coast, children can wade among stingrays in shallow water, and catamaran trips to Cades Reef or the islets of the North Sound make easy half-days. The canopy zipline tour on Fig Tree Drive runs through rainforest below Mount Obama, the island's highest point, and Devil's Bridge is a natural limestone arch on the Atlantic coast. Older children tend to prefer the zipline and watersports, and our comparison of the best Caribbean destinations for teens shows where else to look.
Culture and History
Nelson's Dockyard in English Harbour is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and its restored Georgian buildings house a museum, with the fortifications at Shirley Heights on the ridge above. In St John's, the Museum of Antigua and Barbuda is in the 1750 Court House, the twin towers of St John's Cathedral rise over the town and the public market is busiest on Saturday mornings. Betty's Hope, a former sugar plantation, tells the story of the island's colonial past.
Golf
Cedar Valley Golf Club near St John's is the island's established 18-hole course, and Jolly Harbour, minutes from Tamarind Hills, has a course in the valley behind the marina.
What We Can Arrange
Our concierge team can book tee times and check course conditions, reserve restaurant tables, set up catamaran days, snorkelling trips to Cades Reef, deep-sea fishing and yacht charters, and organise airport transfers before you travel.

Many homes are a walk to the beach, which is the first filter we would apply for families. Tennis players can narrow the search to villas with a tennis court.
Housekeeping, pool cleaning and 24-hour security are common, particularly in resort communities such as Tamarind Hills, and many homes include access to an on-site restaurant or beach club. Before you arrive we can arrange a private chef, grocery stocking and spa treatments.
Timing matters as much as the area, so check Best Time to Visit before fixing dates.
