December to May is the best window for St Jean, when the beach clubs, boutiques and restaurants are fully open and rainfall is typically lowest; June is also relatively dry. Daytime highs usually sit between 26°C and 28°C all year, so the real variables are rainfall, crowds and hurricane season. Christmas and New Year are the busiest weeks of all, while September to November is the quietest and wettest stretch, with some restaurants closed and more favourable rates.

Winter (December-February)
This is peak season, with the air a little fresher and rainfall modest, typically 36mm to 45mm in January and February. Spring (March-May)
March is typically the driest month, at around 22mm, and crowds ease after the winter peak. The sea is generally calm enough for swimming and paddleboarding, and the hillsides stay green. Easter usually brings a busier spell, and the St Barts Bucket regatta takes place in Gustavia in March. Spring suits couples and families outside school holidays, with more availability than winter.
Summer (June-August)

Concierge Travel Guide to St Jean
The airport runway ends beside St Jean Beach, so Gustaf III Airport (SBH) is only minutes from any villa on the bay. Its runway is small, so most guests connect through St Martin (SXM) by short flight or ferry, or via San Juan or Antigua. SXM is well served from major gateways in Europe, North America, the Middle East and South America. From St Jean, Gustavia and the island's other beaches are a short drive.
Where to Eat
St Jean has one of the island's strongest restaurant clusters. Eden Rock, on its rocky headland at the eastern end of the bay, is a well-known address for seafood and long lunches, and nearby beachfront tables serve grilled lobster, fresh fish and French-Caribbean dishes. The French influence shows in the cooking, the wine lists and the pastry counters. For dinners at home, many villas can arrange private chefs, wine pairings and tasting dinners.
Beaches
St Jean Beach is a long, curved stretch of pale sand with calm water, and the reef offshore is good for snorkelling. Beach clubs along the bay serve lunch, rent loungers and offer watersports, and are usually busiest in the high season. If you want to step straight onto the sand, start with our villas within walking distance of the beach. Lorient and Gouverneur are quieter alternatives a short drive away, and Colombier, reached by boat or on foot, is a more secluded cove.
Things to Do
Paddleboarding, snorkelling and boat trips around the coast fill most days, and Gustavia has the marina and yacht charters. Walkers can follow the coastal paths towards Colombier and Gouverneur. Golfers usually take a day trip to Mullet Bay on St Martin, the nearest course, and villa teams can help with transfers and tee times.

Families spend their time on the water. Snorkelling at Colombier, boat trips and paddleboarding in the bay are popular, and turtles are often seen in the shallow bays. Back at the villa, private pools, tropical gardens and heated pools keep younger guests occupied.
Culture and History
Gustavia, the island's capital, has a Swedish-era history, and the island was Swedish until 1878, with street names and architecture that still reflect it.
