Temperature units
December to April is the best window for Flamands: rainfall tends to be lighter, the breezes are reliable and the island's social calendar is in full swing. The trade-off is that it is also the busiest stretch, with Christmas, New Year and Easter booking up months ahead and rates and minimum stays at their highest. Daytime highs usually sit between 26°C and 29°C all year, so the real differences are rain, wind and how crowded the island feels.

High season (December-April)
Highs are typically 26°C to 27°C, and the winds are fresher, which suits sailing but can make the sea livelier off the beach. March is among the driest months, and the crowds thin a little after the winter peak. Easter is busy, so book early. Base yourself on the beach itself, with Gustavia a short drive for evenings out.
Summer (May-August)
Highs rise to around 27°C to 29°C, with warm seas and a little more humidity. June is among the drier months, and the water is generally calm enough for swimming, kayaking, snorkelling and boat days from Gustavia. The island is relaxed, though some restaurants and shops cut their hours or close for part of the season. July and August are popular with families, so villas with pools and ocean views can still book up for school holidays. Good value, with room to spare.
Hurricane season (September-November)
This is the quietest and wettest part of the year, averaging roughly 110mm to 119mm of rain a month, and the Atlantic hurricane season peaks now, so flexible travel arrangements and insurance are advisable. Flamands sits on the north-west coast of St Barths, with a handful of low-key hotels along the beach and some of the island's most sought-after homes behind it. Gustavia is about ten minutes away by car, and Gouverneur and Saline on the south coast are also a short drive. Most guests fly into Sint Maarten (SXM), well served from major European, North American and South American hubs, then take a short hop by small plane to Gustaf III airport (SBH) or a ferry across. Transfers from the airport to Flamands take roughly 10 to 15 minutes.

Dining on the beach at Flamands is relaxed, with fresh fish and lobster a regular feature. Gustavia has the widest choice, with classic bistros and refined harbourfront tables.
