Set in the Provençal countryside about 1.5 miles from the medieval village of Goult, Les Vignes is an impeccably restored 18th-century stone farmhouse on 10 hectares. It occupies its own secluded hilltop, with sweeping views over the valley below. Goult's cobbled lanes lead to several fine dining restaurants, an award-winning café, charming shops and a landmark 9th-century church. The village is roughly a 30-minute walk away, so it is not considered close walking distance. Whether you are sharing long meals on the terrace or unwinding by the pool while children play in the garden, the views and the calm of the setting leave a lasting impression.
The Grounds
The gardens are meticulously landscaped with mature olive, almond, plane, quince and fig trees, set among lavender, climbing roses and box hedges. A shaded courtyard beside the main living area serves as an outdoor dining room for ten. A second courtyard, with an ancient well, looks out over a broad lawn made for croquet at sunset. On the lower terrace, a vine-draped stone pool house stands beside a private 6m x 12m mosaic pool. The pool is heated and fenced with a locked security gate. Sun loungers, a charcoal barbecue and a ping pong table complete the outdoor offering.
The Interior
The interiors were professionally decorated with comfortable, high-quality furniture, art and antiques. Locally quarried limestone floors, restored plaster walls and open-beamed ceilings give the house its character.
On the ground floor, a generous living room centres on a grand fireplace, with French doors opening onto the main courtyard. The gourmet kitchen is fully equipped with a Paul Bocuse gas range, two ovens, a dishwasher and a Nespresso machine. Alongside it are a dining room with an antique table, a laundry with its own bathroom, and a quiet study with an antique desk that looks over the vineyards. A self-contained guest suite with a queen bed and en-suite bathroom has a separate entrance and a private courtyard.
Upstairs, the master bedroom has a king bed, double wardrobes and views of the vineyards and valley. A queen bedroom opens through pretty balcony doors onto sweeping valley views, and two twin bedrooms complete this floor. Every bedroom can also use the ground-floor shower room.
